Barnes Chiado

Founded over 25 years ago by Heidi Barnes, Barnes is now an international reference in the luxury residential real estate sector. In 2016, they opened their first boutique in Lisbon, in Chiado. We were invited to develop a "Barnes" environment, something that followed the concept already defined for their boutiques in various parts of the world.
We developed a project with very well-defined guidelines, from the chromatic base in shades of white and gray, which is part of the brand's concept, to the creation of a welcoming yet modern store.
The space was divided into four zones: the first for reception, the second for meetings, the third for work, and the fourth for services. The central module stands out as the most striking element of the space, as does the entire ceiling. We intended to keep the original brick, placed during the building's construction, visible to convey spaciousness, history, and color.
As the floor plan had a rectangular shape and only two sources of natural light, the choice of glass, wall colors, and lighting was essential to bring as much brightness as possible to the different areas.
In short, in this space, we wanted to preserve the roots of the original construction, characterize the boutique as being from Lisbon, and give it that unique light that only our capital possesses—a light we intend to maintain both in the space and in the client's future business.
